In 1998, the Section on Administration of the APTA (now the Section on Health Policy & Administration) convened a task force on leadership, administration, and management preparation to examine and develop a position on professional education related to leadership, administration, management processes (LAMP). The outcome of this Task Force was the publication of a white paper in The Resource, Volume 29 No 1, the publication of the Section on Administration.
Since 1998, HPA is sponsored a number of conferences focusing on content related to the original LAMP white paper, as well as research related to the LAMP concepts. At this time, HPA has appointed a Steering Committee for the Standardization of Professional Practice, chaired by Annette Iglarsh, PT, MBA, DPT, to further develop and expand the concepts of LAMP.

CSM is sponsored by the American Physical Therapy Association each February in conjunction with its 18 specialty sections, including the Home Health Section. The conference draws more than 7,000 physical therapy professionals from around the country. The location for the conference varies each year.
