HPA the Catalyst Technology and Innovation Award

Purpose:

To acknowledge and honor an APTA member who has demonstrated dedication and outstanding value by his or her contributions to Technology and Innovation in Physical Therapy.

Eligibility:

  1. Any APTA member in good standing.

Criteria for Selection:

The nominee shall have made substantial contributions to Technology and Innovation in Physical Therapy in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Demonstrated prominent contributions in advancing the interests, objectives, and strategic plan of the Technology Special Interest Group (TechSIG).
  2. Developed, integrated, and/or researched significant technologies or innovations and/or their components that have impacted the field of Physical Therapy.
  3. Advanced public/professional awareness of technology use in Physical Therapy.

Procedure for Nomination:

  1. Nominations may be submitted by any Health Policy & Administration Section Member.
  2. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. The nomination deadline is November 15 annually.

3.      Nominations and all related materials may be sent electronically to the TechSIG Nominating Committee Chair.

  1. The materials submitted for each nomination shall include:
    1. A minimum of two (2) letters of support which address the criteria for selection by individuals who have first-hand knowledge of the nominee’s contributions. Letters must include contact information
      (name, title, address, phone, email) to allow verification due to electronic nature of the submission.
    2.  The nominee’s curriculum vitae
    3.  Any relevant publication(s), grant proposal(s) or grant award letter(s), patent or trademark certificates
    4.  APTA member number as applicable

Procedures for Review:

  1. The HPA’s Nominating Committee will review the nominations and submit to the TechSIG Executive Committee for final approval no later than December 1 of each year.
  2. The Committee will notify the Board of Directors of its decision no later than December 15 of each year.

Notification of Award:

  1. The recipient(s) of the award will be notified by December 15.
  2. The nominators of individuals not selected will receive a letter thanking them for their participation.
  3. An appropriate announcement of the award will appear in the Physical Therapy Journal of Policy, Administration and Leadership (PTJ-PAL) and/or any other official publication of the HPA, including the HPA website.

Nature of the Award:

An award will be sent or presented to the awardee at the HPA The Catalyst Awards and Global Health SIG Reception at Combined Sections Meeting.
