HIPAA Administrative Simplification: How It Got Derailed and Information You Need to Know to Put It Back on Track

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Administrative Simplification affects almost everyone in the health care industry. Administrative simplification is broken down into several sections: electronic health transaction standards and code sets, unique identifiers, and security privacy. These HIPAA provisions were implemented to ensure safe, efficient and consistent electronic communication across the U.S. healthcare system. But are they working?

Join HPA The Catalyst's - Payment and Practice Committee and speaker Jim Hall, CPA for this 1.5- hour webinar to discuss and move forward with HIPAA Administration Simplification.

Educational Objectives:
Discuss how a study of locating insurance medical policy can help a disinterested party understand administrative burden medical providers face.
Understand how big the insurance industry really is and why lack of standards create a foundation for misunderstanding or misinterpretation.
Learn about the standard forms and transaction sets and how standards are in place, but why barriers continue to impede these standards.
Review Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) and Minnesota State Law information to assist legislative transformation and review two studies and one state law that can be used to educate legislators.
Highlight what all healthcare providers can be doing right now to work toward a better tomorrow.
