Dr. Susan Roush, PT, PhD

Dr. Susan Roush has been Managing Editor of the PTJ-PAL for nine years, an active member of the Publications committee for many years, and a member of HPA The Catalyst (and former Administration Section) for 30 years. She has been an active member of APTA since graduating from PT school.

Dr. Susan Roush is receiving the HPA Outstanding Service Award due to her leadership and dedication to HPA The Catalyst and her established results as Editor.

During her tenure of service as Managing Editor, the PTJ-PAL evolved into a separate, distinct and recognized component of our HPA’s publication: the Resource. The PTJ-PAL portion became a focal point of our Publications work. There have been 32 manuscripts published in her nine years as Editor.

Susan help revise guidelines for author submission, as well as expand the panel of peer and subject reviewers for manuscripts submitted. One of her exceptional qualities and accomplishments has been the extensive mentoring and coaching she provided to prospective authors, many of which were their first submissions.

Dr. Roush is currently a Professor at the University of Rhode Island, where she teaches Psychosocial, Ethical/Legal, Evidence-Based Practice, and provides administrative support for Pathophysiology. She is also Chair of the Admissions Committee.

She received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from The Ohio State University, M.S Rehabilitation Services from Auburn University, and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington.
